Behind the easel

I am a renowned international film director living in Cape Town, but when I am not behind the lens or chasing deadlines, I find solace behind a canvas in my home studio in Hout Bay, where I pursue one of my greatest passions.

My preferred medium is charcoal, an unforgiving material where the freshness of the line and the spontaneity at which it is applied breathes life into my work. My love of light and shade and my fast-paced, loose style of drawing captures an uncanny likeness to my subject.

Each piece is a work in progress, my ultimate objective to discover the most expressive mark.
