COMMISSIONS & PRINTS
My objectives is to capture not just a photographic likeness but an expression of the individual using a very fresh and spontaneous mark. The idea is to enjoy the character of the medium, charcoal, as an uncanny likeness of my subject evolves.
Working from photographs my priority is not to create a pixel-accurate representation, but rather let the medium take its own course as a work of art emerges that is rich in character with a signature of its own.
All the artwork you find on my site is sized 1000mm x 700mm as I find this size gives the subject room to breathe. I only draw on very high quality 300gsm cotton Fabriana paper with a deckled edge that gives it a very handmade texture. However should you prefer a smaller sized piece of art I am open to discussing your requirements.
Whilst all the artwork you will find on my site is for sale, we can also make prints on high quality matt photographic paper.
I also take commissions for individuals, guest houses or hotels - contact us for a unique piece of art, be it a portrait of a loved one or family or even a beloved pet, a perfect gift for somebody special on a milestone birthday or anniversary. My work in progress includes taking photographs using appropriate lighting conditions to ensure the most dramatic outcome.
